Young Revs Go 1-1 in D.C.

The Revolution Academy youth academy squads went 1-1-0 over the D.C. United youth teams on Mar. 10 in Washington, D.C.

The U-18s fell 4-2 in their match against the D.C. U-18s. Peguy Ngatcha (42′) and Mitchell Taintor (60′) scored New England’s goals, but it wasn’t enough to combat D.C.’s thirsty attack, which went up 2-0 early thanks to Marcus Salandy-Defour (15′) and Jannik Eckenrode (30′). United found an own goal in the 68th minute while Colin Martin capped the scoring with a goal in the 76th minute. The loss dropped the Revs 18s to 4-2-0, but remain in first place in the U-17s/18s Northeast Division of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy.

Meanwhile, the U-16s claimed a 3-0 victory against their counterparts from D.C. After the match scoreless as the approached, the Revolution exploded for three goals in the final 31 minutes. Matthew Nyeayea (59′), Kevin Herrera (80′) and Declan McCabe (83′) put New England in command while keeper Matt Mozynski made eight saves to keep the sheet clean. The 16s upped their record to 4-2-0, and currently sit in first place in the U-15s/16s Northeast Division.

The Revolution Academy teams return to action on Mar. 17 in Holmdel, N.J. to face the NJSA 04. The Academy wraps up the weekend in West Windsow, N.J. on Mar. 18 when they battle Match Fit Chelsea.
