Revs U-16s Recognized

The New England Revolution U-16s earned national recognition this week, breaking into ESPN’s Under-15/16 2011-12 US Soccer Development Academy Power Rankings. The Revs make their debut in this year’s rankings as ninth in the country.

The U-16s are currently 6-2-0 – excluding their recent sixth place finish in the 2012 Future Champions Guateng tournament in South Africa – and sit at first place in the Northeast Division. The Revs U-16s are in the midst of a four game winning streak against US Soccer Development Academy teams.

ESPN notes that their rankings are based on past results and are reactive rather than predictive.

The Revolution youth teams resume the Development Academy schedule at PA Classics in Manheim, Pa., on Saturday, April 14. They then face FC Delco in Downingtown, Pa., the following day.

The U-16s next match against a currently top-10 ranked team comes Saturday, April 21, at Gillette Stadium against the fourth ranked Players Development Academy (11-1-1). The Revs also travel to face 10th ranked Baltimore Bays Chelsea (7-2-2) on Sunday, April 29.
