With the May 12 season opener less than three weeks away, the Mutiny added seven more players to its roster on Tuesday.

Forward/midfielder Caitlin Alves, midfielder/defender Sarah Brochu, defender Danielle Dakin, defender Allie Fitzsimmons, midfielder Riley Houle will join New England veterans Karyn Riviere and Therese Smith for the team’s first season in WPSL Elite.

“With the step up to the WPSL Elite division, we have had to revamp our roster dramatically in order to compete against the professional teams,” Mutiny owner Joe Ferrara said in a statement. “However, we remain committed to developing and providing opportunities for our hometown heroes.”

The Mutiny will play a 14-game schedule in 2012, with a pair of games against commonwealth rival Boston Breakers on June 20 in Somerville and July 7 at East Longmeadow High School.
