Mutiny Blanked 4-0 by Chicago

The Red Stars claimed an early advantage, then pulled away in the second frame of Saturday’s 4-0 win over the Mutiny.

Michele Weissenhofer (36′), Amanda Cinalli (68′), Lauren Fowlkes (73′) and Lori Chalupny (84′) all tallied for Chicago while Jamie Forbes kept the sheet clean.

After the board remained unblemished as halftime neared, Weissenhofer took a pass from Cinalli and put it throught to give the hosts a lead it would not relinquish.

The Mutiny defense kept it close beyond the hour mark, but the Red Stars attack proved too much in the latter stages. After setting up Weissenhofer, Cinalli stamped her name on the scoresheet by converting a Julianne Sitch corner in the 68th minute.

Five minutes later, it was Fowlkes, who put the game out of reach with a 73rd minute strike. Chalupney capped it off with a low shot that escaped Vikki Alonso six minutes before full time.

The Mutiny return to action on June 20 against commonwealth rival Boston at Dilboy Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7pm.
