Pioneers Pound Phantoms

The Pioneers improved its playoff positioning by pounding the Phantoms 4-0 at Portsmouth High School on Thursday.

Ryan Malone (25′) DJ Pereira (83′) Drou Goff (87′) and Jordan Bronco (90+’) all tallied for the guests while Warren Gross held off the hosts for the shutout.

The Pioneers’ victory puts them in a two-way tie with CFC Azul for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Northeast Division standings, and within one point of the third-place Phantoms.

Western Mass returns to action on Saturday when they head east to Veterans Memorial Stadium to face the Boston Victory at 7pm. Seacoast also hits the road for a Saturday clash against CFC Azul at Kristine Lilly Field in Wilton, Conn. at 7:30pm.
