Although the calendar may have just flipped to December, springtime is only six weeks away. Well, at least for area soccer fans.

On Monday, the New England Revolution released their five-and-a-half week preseason schedule, with players reporting to camp at Gillette Stadium on Jan. 17.

From there, the Revolution embark on a six-game  preseason schedule that will take them to Arizona for the second consecutive year. The first of two games at Grande Sports World in Casa Grande, Ariz. will be played on Jan. 25 against Sporting Kansas City. On Jan. 29, the Revolution will be pitted against Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

The club will return to Foxboro on Jan. 30 for eight days before heading back to Arizona for the 2013 FC Tucson Desert Diamond Cup, a four-club round-robin tournament which kicks off on Feb. 13 and runs through Feb. 23 at Kino Veterans Stadium.

The Revolution will face Seattle (Feb. 13), New York (Feb. 16) and Real Salt Lake (Feb. 20) before the consolation and championship game on Feb. 23. The Revolution went 3-0-1 in the inaugural tournament.

Following the four-game slate, the Revolution return to Foxboro on Feb. 24 to prepare for First Kick 2013, which is scheduled for the weekend of Mar. 2.

The date, time, place and opponent of the club’s first regular season match has not yet been announced.
