Revs Beat Phoenix FC in Closed Scrimmage; 2 Trialists Added

Dimitry Imbonbgo scored a pair of goals to lead the Revolution to a 4-1 win over USL PRO squad Phoenix FC in an 80-minute, closed-door scrimmage on Monday.

Imbongo tallied in each of the 40-minute halves, while Supplemental pick Gabe Latigue and Sainey Nyassi picked up goals for the Revolution.

The match came less than 48 hours after New England claimed their first preseason win. The Revolution beat New York Red Bulls 3-1 on Saturday in the second group game of the Desert Diamond Cup tournament.

TWO MORE TRIALISTS IN CAMP

On Monday, the Revolution released their latest preseason roster, which featured two new names.

Midfielders Cameron Brown and Nerman Crnkic are the latest players to join the club for preseason camp.

Brown, 23, was taken by FC Dallas in last month’s Supplemental Draft. His collegiate career was besieged by injuries, which kept him on the sidelines for the 2010 and 2011 seasons. In 64 career games for the Tar Heels, he collected 11 goals and eight assists.

In 2012, Crnkic scored four goals and added an assist in eight games for the Michigan Bucks (PDL), where he was a teammate of Revolution Homegrown Player Scott Caldwell. Prior to joining the Bucks, the 20-year-old East Kentwood, Mich. native played for Swedish second division side Sandviken IF.
