Rhinos Fall Short vs. Pittsburgh

The Rochester Rhinos dropped their first game of the preseason in a 1-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Sunday at Sahlen’s Stadium.

Darren Amoo scored the solitary goal in the 46th minute to give the guests the win. The Rochester loss drops them to 1-1-0 on the preseason.

“Our main objective was to continue to build our match fitness,” Rhinos head coach Jesse Myers said in a statement. “We got our guys 45 to 60 minutes tonight. I thought it was really a match that was played box-to-box without a lot of chances for either team. We were missing seven players we are expecting to play a significant role for us this season. That’s fairly typical for this time of year.”

Myers made a slew of changes to start the second half, and the Riverhounds pounced immediately. From a Stefan Lundberg cross, Amoo sent it through to score.

Rochester returns to action on Friday when they host Syracuse University men’s soccer team at 5pm.
