1. It should have been Lee Nguyen- Diego Fagundez wanted to take the penalty kick in second half stoppage time, but Jay Heaps was right to give it to Nguyen. Nguyen is arguably the field player in the best run of form and had already had momentum from converting from the spot last weekend versus Chicago. The next best penalty kick taker is Chris Tierney, especially since Fagundez has never taken one in a competitive setting. It was clear that the youngster was full of emotion leading up to the kick, which could have thrown off his performance at the moment of truth. He’s obviously hungry for his first goal, and that’s good to see.

2. That’s the Jerry Bengston we know and don’t understand- Regardless of the fact that he was probably offside, you’d expect a player of Bengston’s caliber to put away his opportunity early in the first half. It’s the type of finish he’s capable of– we’ve seen him do it with a Honduras jersey on. Even Revolution aBrad Feldman sounded frustrated at Bengston for his miss when he called the play on Saturday night’s telecast. Bengston is all but a lock to go to Brazil for the World Cup to represent Honduras. But he’ll be better prepared for the tournament with more minutes in competitive matches. Jay Heaps has shown Bengston patience and a willingness to play him. However, that may change soon, especially with his performance in Saturday night’s first half.

3. Are these Revs lucky or do they know how to grind it out?- No Kelyn Rowe. No Jose Goncalves. A tough match-up versus the defending champions. It didn’t look pretty, but the Revolution secured another hard-fought victory. They’ve been able to match their opponents physically and then make the most of the slightest look at goal in recent weeks. Defensive depth has been key, too, as it has forced everyone on the back line to step up in the hope of maintaining their starting jobs. If the Revolution are able to play the way they did Saturday night, and secure points, versus Toronto and Seattle, they might be in business. Call them the new juggernauts of the Eastern Conference, if you dare.
