Reserve defender O’Brian Woodbine, who failed to accumulate first team minutes during his time in Foxboro, was waived by the New England Revolution on Monday.

The 26-year-old wingback was originally acquired by the club last August following a spell with Reno of the Jamaica National Premier League.

Although he didn’t see action with the club in 2013, he appeared to position himself for playing time during the winter. He collected 352 minutes over seven preseason games, assisted on a Dimitry Imbongo goal against Ft. Lauderdale, and showed his versatility by manning one of the center back spots, as well.

But even after the backline was ravaged by injuries earlier this season, Woodbine failed to get first team action. He was listed on the gameday 18 for the club’s U.S. Open Cup match in Richmond last week, but did not see the field.

Woodbine’s departure puts the Revolution roster at 28 players, with two open spots.
