After coming up short in their last seven, the Boston Breakers finally found the win column on Friday after topping Western New York Flash 4-2 at Sahlen’s Stadium.

Jasmine Spencer put the Flash on the board first in the 14th minute, but Lianne Sanderson equalized in the 28th minute. Heather O’Reilly scored from the spot in the 30th minute, while Reeves scored in the 39th to put the Breakers ahead going into the half. Carli Lloyd put the Flash within striking distance in the 54th minute, but O’Reilly’s second strike in the 86th minute put the game out of reach for the hosts.

The victory was the first the Breakers recorded since a 2-0 win against Washington on Jun. 11. The loss extended the Flash’s winless streak to three (0-2-1).

It was hard to tell early that the Breakers would a way to snap out of their seven-game funk after Spencer put the Flash in command early. Spencer’s goal came when she headed through a ball from Lloyd in the 14th minute.

But the Breakers filed their response not long after. Kristie Mewis found Sanderson inside the box, where the English international stuck it true to level it in the 28th minute.

O’Reilly’s first goal of the game came after Jazmine Reeves was brought down in the box, setting a up a shot from spot, where the longtime U.S. National Team player converted.

The Breakers’ third goal arrived when Reeves grabbed a pass from O’Reilly and buried it in the shadow of halftime.

Although the hosts came back when Lloyd scribbled her name on the sheet after getting a pass from Haley Palmer, and sliding it through in the 54th minute.

Any doubt about the result was put to rest late when Maddy Evans found O’Reilly in the final third, where she converted to send the Breakers on their way to victory.

The Breakers will meet the Flash again on Aug. 3 at Harvard Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6:30pm.
