Carson, California – The MLS season concludes on Sunday as the New England Revolution face the LA Galaxy in the MLS Cup Final.

Location: StubHub Center, Carson, California

Season series: The LA Galaxy won the only match between the two teams this season in a 5-1 win on July 16th where both teams played with ten men most of the game after two red cards in the first half.  The Revolution won the previous match against LA on June 2, 2013 by a final of 5-0.

Revolution update: 17-13-4 overall (regular season), 55 points through 34 games (1.62 points per game), with 51 goals scored and 46 goals against….Finished the regular season in second place in the Eastern Conference, only behind D.C. United by 4 points ….Defeated the Columbus Crew 7-3 on aggregate in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals and the New York Red Bulls 4-3 in the Eastern Conference Finals….On the road during the regular season, the Revolution went 6-9-2, with 20 points in 17 games (1.18 points per game), with 23 goals and 32 goals against….The Revolution have won both their playoff road matches so far in the 2014 MLS postseason, stunning the Columbus Crew 4-2 in the first leg of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals and the New York Red Bulls 2-1 in the Eastern Conference Finals…The Revolution are unbeaten in their last nine matches and have won twelve of their last fifteen matches….The Revolution are 5-1-1 in their last six road matches since losing 2-1 to the Red Bulls on August 2.  During this seven-game stretch, the Revolution have outscored their opponents 16-9, and scored at least twice in each game, except their lone loss, a 1-0 shutout loss to the Columbus Crew on September 20th….The Revolution reach their fifth MLS Cup final, but are still seeking their first win.  The Revolution were MLS runners-up in 2002, 2005, 2006, 2007, and lost to the LA Galaxy in 2002 and 2005. They also lost to the Galaxy in the 2001 U.S. Open Cup Final.

LA Galaxy update: 17-7-10 overall (regular season), 61 points through 34 games (1.79 points per game), with 69 goals scored and 37 goals against….Finished the regular season in second place in the Western Conference, three points behind the Seattle Sounders….Defeated Real Salt Lake 5-0 on aggregate in the Western Conference Semi-Finals and the Seattle Sounders 2-2 on aggregate (advanced on away goals) in the Western Conference Finals…At home, the Galaxy are 12-1-4 with 40 points in 17 games (2.35 points per game), with 44 goals scored and 14 goals conceded…The Galaxy also have a strong home record against the Eastern Conference this season going 5-0-0 with each win by 3 or more goals and outscoring Eastern Conference foes 20-3….The Galaxy haven’t lost at home to MLS competition since a 1-0 loss to Real Salt Lake on March 8th….The LA Galaxy are 8-0-1 in their last nine home games, scoring 29 goals and conceding 4 goals….The LA Galaxy look to win their fifth MLS Cup, which would set a new high among MLS franchises.  This will be their ninth trip to the MLS finals and fourth in the last six seasons.  The Galaxy also are looking to win their third MLS Cup in the past four seasons.
