Former Revolution midfielder Steve Ralston resigned from his post as Houston Dynamo assistant coach on Wednesday, and is expected to reunite with Dominic Kinnear in San Jose.

Ralston, who was hired by Houston in July 2010, was one of two coaches who declined to return to the Dynamo staff for 2015. Goalkeeper coach Tim Hanley will also be leaving the club.

Multiple reports have pegged San Jose as Ralston’s next destination given his familiarity with Kinnear, who gave the former Revolution midfielder his first full-time coaching gig. Kinnear left the Dynamo following the 2014 season to accept the Earthquakes’ head coaching position.

Shortly after the announcement of Ralston’s departure, Dynamo President Chris Canetti took to Twitter to express his gratitude for Ralston’s services.

Ralston interviewed for the Revolution head coaching position in 2011 after Steve Nicol parted ways with the club. The job ultimately went to Jay Heaps.

Sandy Stewart and Paul Caffrey were added to the Dynamo coaching staff on Wednesday.
