The body ink. The dreadlocks. The German accent. The whole package was back at Gillette Stadium on Thursday. And not a moment too soon.

Six weeks after undergoing sports hernia surgery, midfielder Jermaine Jones rejoined the Revolution for training on Thursday.

Jones spent the bulk of his recovery in Los Angeles under the supervision of staff from U.S. Soccer. He underwent surgery two days after going the full 90 in the United States’ 2-0 win over Panama on Feb. 8.

His return to the squad is a welcome development for the Revolution, who’ve started the 2015 season winless – and goalless – in their first three. Last year, the club went 9-1-2 with Jones in the lineup, the lone loss coming in the Revolution’s 2-1 defeat to the LA Galaxy in the MLS Cup final.

During his absence, veterans Andy Dorman and Daigo Kobayashi have both filled in for Jones in the central midfield.

Jones will be meeting with the local media for the first time this year prior to Friday’s training.
