Ex-Revs Trialist Packwood Scores for U.S. U-23s

Will-5

Former Revolution trialist Will Packwood scored for the U.S. U-23s in a 3-1 win over the Netherlands at the Toulon Tournament on Friday in Hyeres, France.

Packwood, who trialed with the Revolution earlier this month, headed through a corner kick in the 42nd minute to give the U.S. its third goal of the game.

The 21-year-old Concord, Mass. native spent a week with the Revolution after his contract with Birmingham City was terminated at his request.

Initially, the 6-3 center back appeared to be a good fit for the Revolution, who’ve been dogged by injuries in the back this season. But after spending a week with the team, general manager Mike Burns told Fox Soccer that the club would not pursue Packwood.

Packwood remains a free agent, though it is believed that the Revolution hold his discovery rights since he was not among the U.S. internationals listed on the league’s master Allocation List.
