Buried at the bottom the standings and the postseason out of reach, the Breakers turned their attention to next season on Thursday by trading the rights of midfielder Lianne Sanderson to the Seattle Reign for a second-round pick in the 2016 NWSL College Draft.

Sanderson, who scored five goals and collected a team-best seven assists for the Breakers in 2013, spent the 2015 season with Arsenal LFC. In her two seasons in Boston, the English International scored 10 goals and 10 assists in 41 games from 2013-2014, and earned NWSL Player of the Week honors twice.

Sanderson was also a part of England’s historic run to the Women’s World Cup semifinals, the furthest advancement for the Lionesses in the global tournament.

The Breakers will wrap up their home slate on Saturday when they host the Washington Spirit before they close out the regular season with a three-game road slate that will conclude in Houston on Aug. 30.
