Former Pioneers striker Will Daniels continued his torrid form in Iceland on Saturday by scoring twice and notched an assist in KF Aegir’s 4-3 comeback win over Sindri.

Daniels, who’s already collected a hat trick this season, bagged his second brace of the season in a match in which Sindri opened up a three-goal lead by the 27th minute. The 25-year-old forward scored his side’s first goal in the 37th minute on a free kick from 30 yards. After the break, Ramon Torrijos Anton cut the deficit to one in the 53rd minute before firing a shot off the crossbar that Daniels followed up and headed through in the 55th minute to level it.

“It was a bit quiet in the locker room at halftime just trying to figure out how this happened so quickly,” Daniels told NESoccerToday.com about the early deficit. “But you could feel the pressure of what would happen if we lost this game. I knew we had no choice but to win this game.”

With the 11th-place side needing a victory to stave off possible relegation, the comeback was completed in the 80th minute when Daniels found Milan Djurovic, who collected the ball on the right, then chipped the keeper from 45 yards to seal the improbable win.

“One of the greatest games I have ever had the pleasure of being involved in,” Daniels said, “and one of the toughest games I have ever played in physically, mentally and emotionally.”

Despite battling through injuries earlier in the season, Daniels now has eight goals in 10 games, and ranks among the top scorers in the Icelandic second division.

The Quinnipiac graduate suited up for the Pioneers from 2013-14 before playing professionally for Western Mass Pro Soccer in 2014. Aegir acquired Daniels via transfer following a successful trial in February 2015.

Daniels and his Aegir teammates return to action on Saturday when they face eighth-place Fjallabyggd.
