Reis Verdict Coming Up

Matt Reis was sidelined for Saturday night’s game against the Philadelphia Union due to back problems, an issue which will be re-examined early tomorrow morning well before the Revolution take the field against Monarcas Morelia in the Superliga Final.

Originally, the Revolution staff suggested Reis would be fit to play in tomorrow night’s game, though the lack of light shed on Reis’ injury suggests otherwise.  The Revolution have a mandatory injury report they must release tomorrow.  But even if Reis’ name appears on the report, Steve Nicol might push his decision even further back to decipher whether or not Reis can start.

Should Reis be unable to start, second-year ‘keeper Bobby Shuttleworth will likely be inserted into the starting 11.  If Reis’ injury persists, it’s possible he may need to be taken off the game-day roster all together and force Tim Murray to sit on the sidelines as the team’s secondary choice between the pipes.
