The New England Mutiny will commence its first season in the newly-formed United Women’s Soccer (UWS) league on May 14 at home in East Longmeadow, Mass. where they’ll face New York Magic at 7:00pm.

The match, which will be played at East Longmeadow High School, commences the Mutiny’s 10-match regular season slate, which will wrap up on Jul. 23 vs. TSF Academy Valkyries.

“We’re really looking forward to this new experience in the UWS East,” said New England Mutiny owner Joe Ferrara, Jr. in a club release. “To play against one of our original rivals in the New York Magic is the icing on the cake. This will be our first game against them in 16 years, back when we were the Springfield Sirens. We had a great crowd for our opener at East Longmeadow last year alongside the jamboree and we’re hoping for the same this year.”

Last fall, the Mutiny, which was originally formed as the Springfield Sirens in 1999, announced they were leaving the WPSL after over a decade in league play to join the UWS, a joint venture among many former WPSL and W-League outfits. The new pro-am league is divided into East and West Conferences and is sanctioned by U.S. Soccer through the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).

The first UWS game in league history will take place two hours before the Mutiny-Magic matchup as the Long Island Rough Riders host New Jersey Copa F.C. at Saint Anthony’s High School in an East Conference clash (5:00 PM kickoff).

The first UWS West Conference game will occur on May 21 as the Houston Aces host the Santa Clarita Blue Heat at Houston Sports Park (7:00 PM kickoff).

The winners of the East and West Conferences will compete for the first-ever UWS National Championship the weekend of Jul. 30-31, with the West champion slated to host.
