There was a good news and bad news for the Breakers on Friday.

The good news: they scored their first goal of the season. The bad? It went in the wrong net.

A 41st minute Kassey Kallman own goal sank the Breakers, who failed to put the ball in the opposing net for the fifth straight match, falling 1-0 to Sky Blue FC at Yurcak Field in Piscataway, N.J.

The critical moment came just before the break when Kallman inadvertently knocked a Kelley O’Hara cross into the back of the Breakers net to give the hosts a lead it did not relinquish.

Boston outshot Sky Blue 13-9, but remain in search of their first goal under first-year coach Matt Beard.

The Breakers will attempt to end their season-opening scoring drought on Sunday, May 22 against FC Kansas City at Jordan Field. Kickoff is set for 6:30pm.
