FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Femi Hollinger-Janzen came off the bench to score the game-winner for the Revolution in their 2-1 win over the Seattle Sounders at Gillette Stadium on Saturday.

Hollinger-Janzen entered the match in the 77th minute for Kelyn Rowe, and three minutes later, latched onto a Lee Nguyen ball before firing a low drive that eluded Stefan Frei in the 80th minute.

Seattle only needed eight minutes to open the account when Aaron Kovar pounced on a poor clearance from Bobby Shuttleworth and buried it from the edge of the area.

Not long after, a fortuitous call allowed the locals to seize the equalizer. Referee Fotis Bozakos awarded a penalty to the hosts after Zach Scott’s clearance that appeared to hit Kovar in the midsection yards in front of goal, which set up a 24th minute penalty strike from Nguyen.

With the win, the Revolution finished off their three-game homestand with two wins and a loss. Saturday’s victory was the first in which the locals conceded the first goal of the game.

Revolution center back Jose Goncalves returned to the lineup for the first time since suffering a chest injury in the second half of a May 8 match at LA Galaxy.

Former Revolution midfielder Clint Dempsey was not among Seattle’s gameday 18 on Sunday as a result of his call-up to the U.S. Men’s National Team ahead of Copa America. He started up top in Saturday’s pre-tournament warmup against Bolivia.

Another player out of action due to the tournament was Revolution fullback Je-Vaughn Watson, who was called up by the Jamaican National Team.

With the Copa America break on tap, the Revolution won’t return to action until Jun. 15, when they face either the Charlotte Independence (USL) or Carolina RailHawks (NASL) in the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup tournament.

New England’s next league game is Jun. 18 at Vancouver against the Whitecaps, the first of three straight road contests the locals will play.
