Talk about a first impression.

Less than four weeks after making her professional club debut, Breakers rookie midfielder Rose Lavelle was voted NWSL Player of the Month for the month of April on Wednesday.

Lavelle, who was drafted by the Breakers with the first pick of the 2017 NWSL Draft, scored a goal and added an assist in three games during the month of April. She is the first rookie to be named as the NWSL Player of the Month in her first month in the league.

Lavelle joins FC Kansas City midfielder Erika Tymrak (July 2013) and Chicago Red Stars midfielder Sophia Huerta (May 2015) as the only other rookies to win the award.

The NWSL Player of the Month Award is voted on by the NWSL Media Association, a group of media members who regularly report on the league.
