Guilherme Rodrigues tallied three times while Alencar Junior helped pile it on as the Western Mass Pioneers routed the Westchester Flames 7-0 on Friday at Lusitano Stadium in Ludlow, Mass.

Rodrigues kicked off the goalscoring bonanza inside of nine minutes before finding the back of the net twice more in the 44th and 51st minutes. Carlos Ruiz grabbed a goal in the 15th minute while Charles Guelly and Pierre Villez added their names to the scoresheet in the 59th and 61st minutes, respectively. Junior, who also collected two assists on the evening, capped the scoring in the 82nd minute.

The comprehensive win elevated the Pioneers to 26 points with a 8-3-2 record, good for third-place in the Northeast Division. The Flames stayed on 7 points on a 2-11-1 mark.

Western Mass will need to beat the second-place Long Island Rough Riders (27 points) in Sunday’s regular season finale in South Huntington, N.Y. to advance to the postseason for the second straight year. Kickoff is 4:00pm.

Last week, the Pioneers staked a 3-0 win over the Rough Riders at Lusitano Stadium.
