SEEKONK, Mass. – Former Revolution defender Jay Heaps was among eight inductees honored at the New England Soccer Hall of Fame’s 2011 induction ceremony at the Johnson & Wales Inn on October 29th.

Heaps, who hails from Nashua, N.H. but spent the bulk of his youth in Longmeadow, MA, made a lasting impact in New England, and played on all four of the Revolution’s Eastern Conference Championship clubs (2002, 2005-07). In his nine seasons with the Revolution, Heaps played in a club record 314 games and earned a call-up to the National Team in 2009. Following his retirement in 2009, Heaps became the team’s color analyst for its radio and television broadcasts.

In addition to Heaps, current Providence College men’s head coach Chaka Daley, former LASA star John Feeley, Rhode Island Over-30 founder Joao Luis Ferreira, former Rhode Island Soccer Association president Larry Fish, current Vermont Tech men’s head coach Jamie Hutchins, former URI player Kevin Murphy, and Connecticut FC founder/coach Victor Santos were also honored at the ceremony.

Revolution Vice-President of Business Development Craig Tornberg delivered the keynote speech and Rhode Island Soccer Association President David Borts emceed the event. Despite the unusual late-October snowstorm that enveloped the region that evening, over 100 people attended the dinner, which is held every autumn.
