Young Revs Blank Met Oval

FALL RIVER, Mass. – The Revolution Youth Academy kicked off their 2011-12 season on the right foot by blanking the Met Oval squads on Saturday afternoon with 2-0 (U-18s) and 3-0 (U-16s) wins at Durfee High School on a blustery Saturday afternoon.

For the 18s, it was a game that saw them dominate on the possession scale in the first half, but nothing to show for it, as scoreboard flashed a 0-0 scoreline at the half. Although their form gradually eroded as the second half progressed, the Revs regrouped with a vengeance in the waning minutes. Dominik Machado took a Peguy Ngatcha pass and fired it through to get the Revs on board in the 88th minute. Two minutes later, Ngatcha doubled the lead with a shot that sailed into the right corner to give the Revs the 2-0 win.

The 16s followed with a solid display of opportunistic soccer. The Met Oval 16s controlled possession early, but it was the Revs who converted their chances. Seven minutes in, Mawolo Gissie broke into the box and slipped it though to put his team on top early. Daniel Apajee came through with a pair of goals – one from the spot (25′), and another from the run of play (28′) as the Revs walked off the Durfee High pitch with a 3-0 victory.

The Revs Academy returns to action tomorrow to face the New York Cosmos youth teams tomorrow afternoon at Durfee.
