\"\"<\/a>The Revolution will enter the 99th edition of the U.S. Open Cup tournament on May 29th and will\u00a0either play the\u00a0Harrisburg City\u00a0 Islanders (USL PRO) or the Long Island Rough Riders\u00a0(PDL) in the third round.<\/p>\n

U.S. Soccer released the Open Cup brackets for the third round, which set the fixture dates for all 16 eligible MLS\u00a0clubs,\u00a0on Tuesday. The Revolution will play the winner of the the Islanders-Rough Riders second round tie on May 22,\u00a0and will either\u00a0travel to Harrisburg City or host Long Island at\u00a0Soldier’s Soccer\u00a0Field (at Harvard University)\u00a0in Cambridge, Mass.<\/p>\n

The Revolution are the lone representative from New England that remain eligible for this year’s Open\u00a0Cup. On Tuesday night, MPS Portland Phoenix (PDL) fell 3-2 to the Brooklyn Italians (NPSL).<\/p>\n

The Revolution won the Open Cup in 2007,\u00a0ending a\u00a060-year drought for\u00a0New England-based clubs in the historic tournament. Prior to the 2007 championship, the last team from the region to win it was the 1947 Ponta Delgada\u00a0squad from Fall River, Mass.<\/p>\n

After bowing out in the early stages of the last three competitions, Revolution head coach Jay Heaps mentioned shortly after his appointment in November that team will renew its focus on the tournament under his watch.<\/p>\n
