Andrew Sousa scored his first goal of the season on Saturday, but it wasn’t enough to bring the Victory back in their 4-1 loss against the Fury in Ottawa.<\/p>\n

Sousa’s 51st minute was the only only measure of success against a goal-hungry Ottawa side that saw Miguel Jimenez (5′), Carlo Basso (17′), Niall Crick (46′), and Will Beauge (90′) all tally at Algonquin College Soccer Complex.<\/p>\n

The Victory were missing a number of internationals for Saturday’s game, including midfielders Lucas Pessanha, Matheus Assaf and Wagner Santos who had to forgo the trip to Canada to due work commitments.<\/p>\n

The Fury took advantage of Boston’s personnel predicament early when Eddie Campbell set up Jimenez for the first goal of the game only five minutes in.<\/p>\n

Ottawa added another in the 17th minute when Basso converted a Tom Beattie free kick to make it a two-goal lead.<\/p>\n

As Boston searched for answers going into the second half, Basso set up the Fury’s third strike when he sent a ball toward Crick, who tapped it through in the 46th minute.<\/p>\n

But Boston refused to go down without a fight. In the 51st minute, Sousa sent one past Nils Carlson to give his team a glimmer of hope with a shade under 40 minutes to go.<\/p>\n

Ottawa reclaimed its three-goal lead in the 90th minute when Tom Beattie hit the cross bar before Beauge poked it through to give the Fury a convincing win.<\/p>\n

The Victory return to action on Jun. 9 to face the Vermont Voltage at Veterans Memorial Stadium.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
