Ugarte’s goal came in the 55th minute, while Keasel Broome stopped three shots to lead the Friars to their fourth victory of the season. <\/p>\n
Wednesday’s game marked only the third time the Huskies had trailed all season. <\/p>\n
After a scoreless first half, the Friars didn’t have to wait long to find paydirt in the second frame. Keith Jecewiz sent a cross inside the area to Ugarte, who volleyed it past UConn keeper Andre Blake in the 55th minute.<\/p>\n
From there, Broome did the rest by making a pair of saves in the final 10 minutes to hand the Huskies their second loss of the season. <\/p>\n
The win upped Providence’s record to 4-9-2 (2-5-1 in the Big East) and keeps their flickering hopes of reaching the Big East Tournament alive. Wednesday’s defeat put Connecticut’s mark at 13-2-1 (5-2-0 in the Big East).<\/p>\n
