Last winter, Scott Caldwell became the Revolution’s second Homegrown Player signing after a stellar four years at Akron. But few expected him to step right into the lineup, and regularly feature in one of the most high-pressure positions, no less.<\/em><\/p>\n

Brian O’Connell: Something that a lot people may not know about you is that you’re currently studying up for your Certified Public Accountant (CPA)\u00a0exam. How do you stay focused on something like that\u00a0in the middle of your rookie year?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Scott Caldwell:<\/strong> It’s a lot of studying, and a lot of work. But it’s definitely second to what I’m doing on the field. I do it in the afternoon once all of my work’s done here, after watching game tape. But it’s definitely tough, you know? It’s not fun, but it’s something I’m hoping will help me in the future.<\/p>\n

O’Connell: One thing I noticed in your media guide bio is that your\u00a0father, Larry,\u00a0played for the Hartford Bicentennials (NASL) back in the day. Did he have any advice for you about being a pro soccer player when you signed with the Revolution last winter?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Caldwell:<\/strong> Not really. He tries to stay out of my soccer life. He keeps it more along the lines of personal advice. He knows that I’ve been playing awhile, and this has been my dream and goal, so he knows that I’m focused and putting my effort into all the right places.<\/p>\n

O’Connell: Knowing how much a whirlwind season it can be for any rookie – especially a rookie whose seen as many minutes as you have – have you had the chance yet to step back and see what you’ve been able to accomplish this year?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Caldwell:<\/strong> Not really. I think I’ll wait to see how we do. We still have a lot of work to do with the rest of the season. Hopefully, we have a lot of success towards the end of the year, and more than we’ve had so far, and that’ll be something to look back on and reflect upon. But right now, it’s just one game at a time, and really staying focused on the road ahead.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
