FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The Revolution debuted the newest addition to their arsenal of strikers as former Dutch youth international player Geoffrey Castillion came on in the second half against Montreal.<\/p>\n

The 23-year-old striker made his Major League Soccer debut for New England in its 2-1 win over the Impact.<\/p>\n

Head coach Jay Heaps talked about utilizing his newest weapon, saying getting him into the game was a result of his work at training.<\/p>\n

“I think he trained really well this week, he earned his minutes tonight,” Heaps said. “He had really good sessions Tuesday and Wednesday so we wanted to get him in. I think he’s still a little away from fitness and I think tonight showed and maybe we pushed him in a little too soon.”<\/p>\n

Castillion replaced Charlie Davies in the 76th minute and played as the long striker in the middle of the pitch.<\/p>\n

“It was tough for me,” Castillion said. “It’s been a little while since I played a game, but I liked it very much. I’m happy with the three points.”<\/p>\n

He added that it had been about two months, which he called “a long time ago,” since his last actual game and admitted that he can play at a much higher level.<\/p>\n

“Yeah, I can be much better,” Castillion added. “I’m training fit but games are different than training. When I play a lot of games, it will be better.”<\/p>\n

With the Revolution up 2-1, Castillion didn’t see much of the action on the ball. New England was content keeping possession and wasn’t pushing extremely high. He had just nine touches and completed four of his six attempted passes.<\/p>\n

“I think it was a good moment to put me in,” Castillion added. “We only needed to defend and maybe with the space behind the defenders from Montreal, we could get chances. But I think we defended well the last minutes and I’m happy with the three points.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
