An Alex Pineda Chacon may not be available this time around, but nevertheless, the New England Revolution may be tempted to grab a potential depth piece for 2015 in Wednesday’s MLS Dispersal Draft after they were awarded the fifth pick via weighted draw by MLS.<\/p>\n

The Draft will allow each of the league’s 20 teams to select from the pool of players under contract for Chivas USA, which folded at the end the of the 2014 regular season, with the exception of Erick “Cubo” Torres. The Mexican International will be allocated\u00a0to a new team by the league in mid-December.<\/p>\n

The selection order was determined via weighted draw, which was determined by MLS on Friday. FC Dallas was granted the first pick in the draft, which will be conducted via teleconference at 4:00pm ET on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The last time the league conducted a Dispersal Draft, which was back in 2002, the Revolution grabbed Pineda Chacon, Jim Rooney, and Shaker Asad after the Miami Fusion and Tampa Bay Mutiny were contracted.<\/p>\n

Among those who could be taken within the first five picks: Goalkeeper Dan Kennedy, midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker, winger Marvin Chavez, former UConn defender Andrew Jean-Baptiste, veteran defender Bobby Burling, defender Jhon Kennedy Hurtado, and former Western Mass Pioneer Thomas McNamara. Former Revolution wingback Tony Lochhead will also be available for selection.<\/p>\n

Using an envelope method, the MLS clubs that qualified for the 2014 MLS Cup Playoffs presented by AT&T were given one envelope, while all non-playoff teams, along with 2015 expansion teams New York City FC and Orlando City SC, were awarded two envelopes.
