{"id":29293,"date":"2014-11-18T16:23:04","date_gmt":"2014-11-18T21:23:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nesoccertoday.com\/?p=29293"},"modified":"2014-11-18T16:25:47","modified_gmt":"2014-11-18T21:25:47","slug":"report-krafts-exploring-stadium-location-in-south-boston","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/nesoccertoday.com\/?p=29293","title":{"rendered":"Report: Krafts Exploring Stadium Location in South Boston"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <em>Boston Globe<\/em> reported today that the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bostonglobe.com\/business\/2014\/11\/18\/krafts-exploring-soccer-stadium-boston\/s7p5krvDeH1J7UgjlEIFtM\/story.html\">Krafts are exploring a South Boston location<\/a><\/span> off of I-93 as the potential home of a soccer specific stadium for the New England Revolution. The news is the latest update on the Revolution\u2019s search for a stadium that has been relatively quiet publically since 2012.<\/p>\n<p>In 2012, the Krafts were reportedly considering\u00a0potential locations in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/nesoccertoday.com\/?p=15772\">Revere<\/a><\/span> and<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> <a href=\"http:\/\/nesoccertoday.com\/?p=15809\">Somerville<\/a><\/span>. \u00a0<em>New England Soccer Today<\/em> learned from Revere Mayor Daniel Rizzo\u2019s Office that talks over a potential location in Revere did not continue past preliminary discussions in 2012, although Rizzo remains \u201copen to any and all private investment partnerships that will make Revere a great place to live, work and play.\u201d A request for an update from the Mayor\u2019s Office in Somerville was not immediately returned.<\/p>\n<p>Now, it appears the attention has shifted to South Boston perhaps partially due to a belief that new Mayor Marty Walsh is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebentmusket.com\/2014\/11\/11\/7191283\/jonathan-kraft-talks-about-the-search-for-a-soccer-specific-stadium-new-england-revolution\">on board with the idea<\/a><\/span>. According to the <em>Globe,<\/em> one of the spots being considered lies on Frontage Road in close proximity to I-93 and Broadway on the MBTA\u2019s Red Line. The site currently has a large yard for towed cars and public works and is owned by the city, thus would be subject to a bidding process.<\/p>\n<p>The Krafts, meanwhile, appear hesitant to reveal too much at this stage, telling the <em>Globe<\/em> through a spokesperson that \u201cWe are currently developing concepts for how a soccer stadium for the Revolution can benefit the greater Boston area.
