Marc Fenelus\u00a0is in a class by himself. Literally.<\/p>\n

The Cal State Fullerton forward became the sole member of the 2015 New England Revolution draft class after\u00a0they used their lone pick to\u00a0select\u00a0him\u00a0in the third round (47th overall) of Tuesday’s MLS SuperDraft.<\/p>\n

Fenelus, 22, was tabbed by the Revolution with the only pick – which they acquired from Colorado last month\u00a0in a deal involving Geoffrey Castillion and Dimitry Imbongo\u00a0\u00a0–\u00a0at their disposal this year. The club traded first, second, third and fourth-round picks\u00a0as part of\u00a0deals that netted them Teal Bunbury, Sean Okoli, Brad Knighton and Jeremy Hall, respectively.<\/p>\n

Fenelus, who was a participant at the 2015 Caribbean Combine, scored a team-best seven goals and added two assists for the Titans in his senior year. In two years at Cal State Fullerton, he collected nine goals in four assists. Before transferring to the program, he scored 40 goals and grabbed 19 assists in two years at Western Texas College.<\/p>\n

In 2014, he suited up for Turks and Caicos Island National Team for the Caribbean Cup. He scored the squad’s first goal in six years during a 2-0 win against the British Virgin Islands on Jun. 3, 2014.<\/p>\n

Fenelus was known for his speed and dibbling abilities during his collegiate career. Taking those attributes, along with his stature (5-11, 155 lbs.) into account, he projects to be a secondary striker\/attacking midfielder rather than a target man (similar to recent Revolution project Tony Taylor).<\/p>\n

The addition of\u00a0Fenelus gives the local XI depth up top, where the club is particularly thin at the moment. Okoli and Charlie Davies are the only forwards on the active roster, though Bunbury, a converted winger, could be pushed up to the nine spot, if need be.<\/p>\n

The 47th selection also marked the longest wait for the Revolution to make its first SuperDraft selection. In 1999, the club waited until the third round to make its first pick (25th overall), which they used to select\u00a0midfielder Leighton O’Brien out of San Diego.<\/p>\n

The Revolution will open its preseason camp on Thursday at Gillette Stadium <\/a>before heading to Casa Grande, Ariz. on Monday for training and a pair of\u00a0scrimmages against Real Salt Lake (Jan. 31) and Vancouver (Feb. 4).<\/p>\n
