Providence College products Keasel Broome and Markus Nagelstad, as well as Boston University’s Dominique Badji, were selected during the final two rounds of the MLS\u00a0SuperDraft, which was held via conference call on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Broome heard his name called by the\u00a0San Jose Earthquakes\u00a0in the third round (45th overall), while Nagelstad was taken by New York City FC in the fourth round (64th overall). Badji, who opened eyes during the skills competition of last week’s Combine, was selected by Colorado in the fourth round (67th overall).<\/p>\n

Broome helped steer Providence to its first Final Four appearance by posting a 1.10 GAA in 23 starts. He collected 75 saves and registered eight clean sheets, as well.<\/p>\n

Nagelstad was part of Providence’s winning formula in 2014 by scoring 10 goals and adding two assists. He\u00a0broke the NCAA Division I men’s soccer record for the fastest three consecutive goals (75:11, 76:07 and 77:11)\u00a0by the same player against Rhode Island on Aug. 30.<\/p>\n

Badji was named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year for 2014 after collecting eight goals and four assists for the Terriers.<\/p>\n

Broome and Badji both starred for the Real Boston Rams last summer. Rams general manager and head coach Hobie Hare gave a tip of the cap<\/a> to the duo on the club’s official site shortly after the draft.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn behalf of the entire Boston Rams organization, we want to congratulate both Keasel and Dominique on being picked in the MLS SuperDraft,” Hare said. “They are both quality players who possess a professional demeanor and will be an asset to their teams. We wish them all the best in their preseason and look forward to seeing them develop as players in the MLS.”<\/p>\n

Nagelstad played three games for CFC Azul (now AC Connecticut) in 2012<\/a>, scoring one goal and adding four assists.<\/p>\n

Providence’s Fabio Machado, who scored in assisted on the final day of the Combine, went undrafted, as did Connecticut’s Adria Beso Marco, who saw a total of 225 minutes between the three scrimmages down in Ft. Lauderdale.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
