FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Coming off the best season\u00a0of his\u00a0professional career, Revolution midfielder Pat Phelan re-signed with\u00a0the club\u00a0on Monday. Terms of the deal were not released, per MLS and club policies.<\/p>\n
Phelan, who was originally acquired from Toronto FC for an international roster slot back on June 4, 2008, saw limited time in the back and the midfield in 2008 and 2009.<\/p>\n
In 2010, the gritty stopper became a fixture in the midfield and saw action in a team-high 34 appearances in all competitions and remained one of the few Revolution players\u00a0lucky enough\u00a0to avoid the injury bug last season.<\/p>\n
The former first-round pick (10th overall in the 2008 SuperDraft) from Wake Forest also scored his first professional goal last season when he tallied the lone goal of a 1-0 victory over DC United on August 7, 2010. He went on to score another against Columbus on September 25th and by season’s end, became one of the club’s most consistent players.<\/p>\n
Phelan’s signing now puts the number of signed players in camp to 19. With 30 available roster spots this season, the Revolution have quite a few more\u00a0signatures to collect\u00a0before the preseason wraps up next month.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
