Revolution midfielder Jermaine Jones\u00a0will be forced to\u00a0miss a\u00a0portion of the club’s preseason\u00a0camp\u00a0after he revealed via social media on Monday that he’ll need surgery, reportedly for a sports hernia. He is expected to undergo the surgery on Tuesday in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

Jones, who did not disclose the nature of his injury in a video post on Instagram, went the entire 90 in Sunday’s 2-0 win over Panama, but did not appear to injure himself during the proceedings.<\/p>\n

However, New York Times<\/em> soccer writer Brian Sciaretta advised via Twitter on Monday that he was told the injury is a sports hernia. According to sportsmd.com<\/a>, the typical recovery time for sports hernia surgery is six weeks.<\/p>\n
