Sporting Lisbon played Pacos de Ferreira on Saturday in league play. With Braga winning their match the night before, Sporting needed a win to maintain their nine point lead for third place. <\/p>\n

Sporting had a 1-0 halftime lead with Islam Slimani netting his 10th league goal of the season. Early in the 2nd half, Sporting had two clear 1 v 1 chances to double their lead, and Joao Mario missed horribly on both occasions. <\/p>\n

His day would only get worse as minutes later his pass to Carrillo was intercepted by Rodrigo Galo, who dribbled up to the edge of the penalty box and blasted a shot passed Rui Patricio, just under the cross bar, tying the game at 1-1, the final score. Their lead for third place is now at seven points with seven games left. <\/p>\n
