It was a good week for the Lions. They booked their tickets to the Portuguese Cup finals with a 1-0 win against Nacional de Madeira, a semifinal series which which finished 3-2 on aggregate.<\/p>\n

Central defender Ewerton scored late in the match in a game that could of gone badly for Sporting if not for keeper Rui Patricio making a few key saves minutes before the goal. They will play the winner of the Braga-Rio Ave semifinal. Braga won the first leg 3-0, and the second leg is scheduled for Apr. 30.<\/p>\n

The Cup final is set for Sunday, May 31 at the National stadium in the Oeiras district of Lisbon.<\/p>\n

Sporting returned to action following their cup game to play at Setubal, where they won 2-1. The Lions had a 2-0 lead at halftime with goals from Junya Tanaka and Carlos Mane. But early in the 2nd half, Setubal got one back with a goal from Suk Hyun-jun. Former Sporting Kansas City midfielder Ori Rosell started this game as some key players were rested.<\/p>\n

The win over Setubal puts Sporting seven points clear of Braga for third place, which guarantees a Champions League playoff spot.<\/p>\n
