Revolution midfielders Scott Caldwell, Diego Fagundez, as well as defender Andrew Farrell, were all included on the MLS Team of the Week for Week 15 following their performances during Saturday’s 2-0 win over the Chicago Fire.<\/p>\n

Caldwell helped steady the Revolution midfield by connecting on 91.3 percent of his passes, and collecting 54 touches, only five fewer than London Woodberry’s team-best 59. He also cleared a point-blank shot from Kennedy Ogboananike in the 26th minute to help his squad register its first clean sheet since April.<\/p>\n

Fagundez opened the scoring in stunning fashion on a volley from the top of the box, a goal that is nominated for Goal of the Week on mlssoccer.com. The goal was Fagundez’s second of the season, and the second straight goal scored at home.<\/p>\n

Farrell’s strength in the rear was key to the Revolution’s defensive efforts as he helped keep Igboananike off the board. The third-year defender recorded a team-high six clearances, and his 83.3 percent passing accuracy assisted the team’s attacking efforts.<\/p>\n

Goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth was listed on the Team of the Week bench, as did former Revolution striker Patrick Mullins.<\/p>\n

Week 15 MLS Team of the Week.<\/strong><\/p>\n

GK: Bill Hamid (D.C. United) – Saved a penalty kick (even if he couldn’t control the rebound) and kept D.C. in the game at times in a 1-0 road loss at Orlando.<\/p>\n

D: Jason Hernandez (New York City FC) – His positioning and leadership were key to limiting Montreal’s transition game such that their playmakers made a minimal Impact.<\/p>\n

D: Andrew Farrell (New England Revolution)<\/strong> – Imperiously shut down Chicago’s Kennedy Igboananike and bailed out teammates with a wide range of interventions en route to Revs’ fifth shutout.<\/p>\n

D: Sean St. Ledger (Orlando City) – One of the big keys to a successful night at the back for the Lions, who became only the fourth MLS team this year to shut out D.C. United.<\/p>\n

D: Robbie Rogers (LA Galaxy) – Provided a consistent attacking presence from the back and, although he didn’t finish his longest run, he helped set up Sebastian Lletget’s goal in Columbus.<\/p>\n

M: Scott Caldwell (New England Revolution)<\/strong> – Helped link play, placed his passes well and utterly frustrated Harry Shipp by shadowing him tenaciously wherever he roamed in the attacking half.<\/p>\n

M: Tony Tchani (Columbus Crew SC) – Was his confident self in midfield and made one of the decisive passes, even though it was deflected, that led to tying goal against LA.<\/p>\n

M: Diego Fagundez (New England Revolution)<\/strong> – A golazo, an MLS record and paced his team’s slump-breaking win. Yeah, that’d be the best day for a lot of careers.<\/p>\n

F: David Villa (New York City FC) – Great movement for his goal and his assist; when he plays 90 minutes at home, he has three goals, three assists, and NYCFC are 2-0-2.<\/p>\n

F: Obafemi Martins (Seattle Sounders) – The best player on the field after coming on in the 61st minute, scoring and assisting as the Sounders pulled away from FC Dallas.<\/p>\n

F: Lamar Neagle (Seattle Sounders) – After all the controversy around last week’s goal that was waved off, Neagle came through with a key goal early in the second half after Seattle had been outplayed in the first.<\/p>\n

Coach: Sigi Schmid (Seattle Sounders) – He may have been spoiled for choice, but his substitutions – Brad Evans at halftime, Martins 15 minutes later – swung the game to Seattle.<\/p>\n
