Two days after going 72 minutes for the Revolution in Wednesday’s U.S. Open Cup game against Charlotte, Tyler Rudy came off the bench along with fellow Rochester loanee Timi Mulgrew in Friday’s 1-1 draw between the Rhinos and Harrisburg City Islanders at Skyline Sports Complex in Harrisburg, Pa. <\/p>\n

Rudy and Mulgrew both came on in the 60th minute, at which point the Rhinos were down a goal after Jason Plumhoff struck in the 43rd minute. <\/p>\n

But with their backs against the wall late in the game, the Rhinos returned fire when Christian Volesky scored in the 87th minute to level the score, keeping the Rhinos’ unbeaten record (8-0-5, 29 points) remained intact.<\/p>\n

The City Islanders grabbed the opening goal when Enric Valles played a chip ball into the box and Plumhoff beat Adam Grinwis to the ball. Plumhoff toe-poked the ball past Grinwis and into the net in the 43rd minute to put the home side up going into halftime. <\/p>\n

However, the Rhinos increased the pressure down a goal and outshot the Islanders 7-3 in the second half. Volesky\u2019s heroics late in the game put the Rhinos back on level pegging, and both teams settled for a hard-fought draw. Volesky fired a shot from the top of the box after receiving a well-placed assist from Tony Walls. <\/p>\n

To date, Rudy has appeared in 10 games for the Rhinos, and collected 460 minutes. Mulgrew has made three appearances and registered 100 minutes. <\/p>\n

The Rhinos remain the only unbeaten team in the USL, and are five points above the Charleston Battery and Richmond Kickers in the USL Eastern Conference. <\/p>\n

The draw also means the Rhinos have started their season on a 13-game unbeaten streak in the USL, only one match short of their record of 14, set in 1998. <\/p>\n

The Rhinos look to match that record on Saturday, Jun. 27 when they host the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
