Gillette Stadium sure didn\u2019t look like a fortress for the Revolution on Saturday.<\/p>\n

After going unbeaten in their last 17 home matches in league play, the Revolution suffered a 2-1 defeat to the Vancouver Whitecaps.<\/p>\n

The guests opened the scoring in the 18th minute on a goal from Cristian Techera, who was later fouled by Andrew Farrell inside the box leading to Octavio Rivero\u2019s 29th minute strike from the spot. Farrell was issued a red card for his trouble, leaving the Revolution with 10 men for the duration.<\/p>\n

The Revolution pulled one back in the 84th minute when Chris Tierney whipped a free kick into the box for Kelyn Rowe, who headed it down in front of Teal Bunbury. The Revolution winger drilled it through the legs of David Ousted.<\/p>\n

With the loss, the Revolution have now gone winless in nine of their last 10 league games, and dropped their first game at home since a 2-1 loss to Columbus on Jul. 26, 2014. The Whitecaps, which had never beaten the Revolution prior to Saturday, extended their winning streak to three.<\/p>\n

Analysis:<\/strong> Well, at least Revolution coach Jay Heaps won\u2019t have to answer any questions about blowing an early lead. In a game controlled by the Whitecaps early on, the Revolution were overwhelmed by their foes\u2019 precision and probing runs. Techera, Rivero and Mauro Rosales menaced the Revolution defense for much of the first half, and regardless of whether Farrell\u2019s red card was warranted, the hosts simply had no answers for Vancouver\u2019s attacking prowess. It wasn\u2019t until the second half that the Revolution, with Vancouver conceding possession, started to threaten. Bunbury and Lee Nguyen were the primary attacking catalysts, and after Ousted was called upon to make a series of acrobatic saves, the Revolution finally broke through. But the equalizer needed to extend the Revolution\u2019s unbeaten run at home never came, and the locals once again dropped points at home for the fourth time in their last five contests at Gillette Stadium.<\/p>\n

Fagundez starts:<\/strong> Diego Fagundez got the start at right midfield in place of Juan Agudelo, who played a combined 135 minutes at DC and Columbus earlier this week. It was his third straight home start after being left off the XI during the Revolution’s last two road games.<\/p>\n

Next up:<\/strong> The Revolution will head to Lone Star State to face FC Dallas on Jul. 4 at Toyota Park. Kickoff is set for 9:00pm ET.
