A familiar face will be back on the pitch for the Boston Breakers this summer. And not a moment too soon, either.<\/p>\n

Former Breakers striker Kyah Simon, who scored a team-best 12 goals in 2012, re-signed with the club on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

“I am delighted to be bringing Kyah back to Boston,” Breakers general manager Lee Billiard said in a team release. “She had a fantastic stint with us in 2012 and 2013, and if not for her injury, she would have continued as a Breaker.”<\/p>\n

Simon, 24, originally joined the Breakers mid-way through the 2012 WPSL Elite season, and averaged a goal per game during her first year in Boston.<\/p>\n

In 2013, she scored three goals and added three assists in 17 games in an offense that was tailored around U.S. International Sydney Leroux.<\/p>\n

Following the 2013 season, Simon returned to her native Australia, and captained Sydney FC. In May 2015, she joined the Australian National Team for the Women’s World Cup, where she scored three goals before the Matildas bowed out during the quarterfinals.<\/p>\n

“She has shown her sharpness and eye for goal during the World Cup, something we will benefit from in Boston upon her return from international duty,” Billiard said. “I am happy to have her back scoring goals in a Breakers jersey.”<\/p>\n

Simon will officially join the club upon receipt of her P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC). Per team and league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
