A pair of familiar faces got the best of their former club to send the Breakers to a 3-0 loss against FC Kansas City on Saturday at Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City, Mo.<\/p>\n

Amy Rodriguez, who was drafted first overall by the Breakers in 2009, scored twice (29th minute and 52nd minute) and assisted on a 50th minute goal from Lauren Holiday, who played in Boston between 2010-11.<\/p>\n

With the loss, the Breakers remain in the NWSL basement on 15 points (4-11-3) while Kansas City’s win gave them 28 points (8-6-4), which puts them in a three-way tie for second place on the table.<\/p>\n

The Breakers’ attack, which was outshot 23-4, lacked the punch from start to finish, and failed to put a single shot on goal during Saturday’s match. Goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher made seven saves, but it wasn’t enough as Rodriguez opened the scoring in the 29th minute when she converted a Leigh Ann Robinson cross to bring the crowd of 2,321 to its feet. <\/p>\n

Shortly after the break, Rodriguez helped orchestrate her side’s second goal in the 50th minute when she found Holiday near the box, where the Blues midfielder beat Naeher to widen the margin. <\/p>\n

Two minutes later, it was Holiday who set up Rodriguez for the former first rounder’s second goal of the game to put the match to bed for the guests in the 52nd minute.<\/p>\n

The Breakers will play their penultimate match of the 2015 season on Wednesday when they face the Seattle Reign at Memorial Stadium in Seattle, Wash. Kickoff is set for 10:00pm ET. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
