It took 13 years for former Revolution postseason hero Adin Brown to get another crack at winning a title. But it’s fair to say that the wait was worth it.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, Brown, who currently serves as the goalkeepers coach for the Portland Timbers, got the chance to lift the MLS Cup trophy after his squad beat Columbus Crew SC 2-1 in the final at MAPFRE Stadium.<\/p>\n

Brown, who played for the Revolution from 2002-2004, earned the starting keeper’s job for the Revolution midway through the 2002 season, and helped steer the club to an improbable run to it’s first MLS Cup final. His 0.71 goals against average during the postseason cast him as one of the most clutch playoff performers in club history.<\/p>\n

After keeping the Los Angeles Galaxy off the board for over 100 minutes during the MLS Cup final, there was little Brown could do when Carlos Ruiz blazed through and scored the golden goal in extra time to beat the Revolution 1-0 in front of a Cup-record 61,316 fans at Gillette Stadium. <\/p>\n

The 37-year-old Brown played 48 matches for the Revolution, and earned the team’s Defender of the Year Award in 2003 and 2004, before heading overseas to play in Norway. He retired in 2011. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
