Former Revolution fullback Kevin Alson was one of two players selected in Thursday’s Stage 2 of the Re-Entry Draft after Orlando City SC tabbed the veteran defender in the first-round. <\/p>\n

Alston, along with former Dynamo defender Jermaine Taylor, who was selected by the Portland Timbers, were the only selections made during the draft.<\/p>\n

By selecting Alston, who had his option declined by the Revolution last month, Orlando City has seven days to extend the longtime Revolution defender a genuine offer. Alston’s salary for 2015 was $158,333. <\/p>\n

The 27-year-old defender was the Revolution’s first-round pick in 2009, and went on to play 148 matches in New England. At the beginning of the 2013 season, he was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia, but was able to return to action during the summer.<\/p>\n

If the sides cannot reach an agreement, Orlando City will retain Alston’s MLS rights, per league rules. <\/p>\n

Meanwhile, defender Jeremy Hall and midfielder Andy Dorman are available to all 20 MLS clubs on a first-come, first-serve basis after they went unselected during both stages of the Re-Entry Draft. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
