Revolution Youth Academy prospect Justin Rennicks <\/a>has been reportedly suspended for the spring portion of the 2016-17 U.S. Soccer Developmental Academy (USSDA)\u00a0season after he trained with a Bundesliga side against the wishes of New Engfland’s front office.<\/p>\n

According to TopDrawerSoccer.com<\/em>, which broke the news of Rennicks’ suspension on Friday<\/a>, the 17-year-old Hamilton, Mass. native trained with Frankfurt during the USSDA’s winter break without the blessing of the Revolution front office.<\/p>\n

The club released a statement to the website in response to its policy on Academy players partaking in training or trialing with different clubs.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe New England Revolution Academy is a fully-funded academy investing significant resources in the development of young players,\u201d the statement read. \u201cWe communicate clear expectations and policies to all players in relation to the commitments associated with being a member of the Revolution Academy. One important policy is that (unless facilitated by the Academy) players cannot train or trial with any other clubs or programs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rennicks is considered one of the top prospects in the USSDA, and participating in preseason training with the Revolution senior team\u00a0in 2015 and 2016. He committed to Indiana University last year, and was slated to play his finish up his final year with the Revolution U-18s this spring.<\/p>\n

Prior to the winter break, Rennicks scored a team-high eight goals in 12 games with the U-18s.<\/p>\n

The Revolution will continue to own his Homegrown rights unless he negotiates with the club to have those rights traded to another team. Alternatively, he could play in Europe once he turns 18 on Mar. 20.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
