Maybe not so much.

Lee Nguyen scored early, but it wasn’t enough to give the Revolution maximum points at home after settling for a 2-2 draw against DC United on Saturday at Gillette Stadium.

Nguyen nodded through a Kei Kamara cross inside of five minutes before Jared Jeffery hit a long-distance effort into the New England net to make it one apiece in the 26th minute. Two minutes later, Sebastian Le Toux put the guests ahead on a breakway, but a Sean Franklin own goal gifted the Revolution an unlikely equalizer.

With the draw, the Revolution ended their two-match homestand with only a pair of points from a possible six as their record went to 2-3-3 (9 points). DC United improved to 2-3-2 (8 points).

What it means: There’s no way around it: getting two points from back-to-back home games simply won’t cut it for any team that hopes to be called a contender. Three days after their scoring touch abandoned them, it was the Revolution’s defense that kept the Revolution from getting maximum points. In some respects, the locals were lucky just to get a point from Saturday’s contest as it took an own goal just to pull them back on level terms. Between Kei Kamara’s continued struggles in front of goal to Teal Bunbury’s botched open look in the waning stages, a strong argument could be made that the Revolution didn’t even deserve the point they pocketed against a motivated DC United.

Smith back at CB, Rowe returns to LB: Josh Smith returned to the starting center back spot after he was rested during Wednesday’s match vs. San Jose. Meanwhile, Kelyn Rowe made his return to left back as Chris Tierney was relegated to the bench on a night in which The Fort paid tribute to him with an impressive tifo unfurled before the opening whistle.

Tierney Tifo #NERevs pic.twitter.com/rQvbAHDjgk

— Brian O'Connell (@BrianOConnell21) April 22, 2017

DC remains a tough foe: Saturday’s draw marked the sixth straight occasion in the which the Revolution were denied of maximum points by DC. Their last victory over DC came in a 2-1 win on May 24, 2014 . Since then, the Revs are 0-3-3 against their longtime conference rivals.

Revs don secondary kits at home: The locals elected to wear their new “flag of New England” white/red secondary kits instead of their customary navy home kits against DC. Saturday’s contest is expected to be the only time the team will wear the secondary look at home this season.

On to Seattle: The Revolution return to action on Saturday, Apr. 29 when they face the Seattle Sounders at CenturyLink Field in Seattle. Kickoff is 10:00pm ET. Last year, the Revolution claimed a 2-1 home win over the Sounders.

The Revs finish their homestand with only 2 points following Saturday’s 2-2 draw vs. DC.

[3
611,891,888,892
