The Revolution\u2019s winless run extended to five after they dropped a 2-0 loss to Crew SC on Saturday at MAPFRE Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.<\/p>\n

Ola Kamara put the Revolution in an early hole when he latched on to a Justin Meram pass and left the defense in the dust before uncorking shot from the right into the back of the net in the 13th<\/sup> minute.<\/p>\n

Despite finding chances through dangerous shots from Lee Nguyen an Diego Fagundez before the break, poor marking allowed Federico Higuain to slot through a pass from Kamara in the 53rd<\/sup> minute.<\/p>\n

The loss left the Revolution at 10 points (2-4-4) while Crew SC improved to 16 points (5-4-1).<\/p>\n

What it means: <\/strong>Defensive miscues continue to be a theme for the Revolution following Saturday\u2019s loss, which marked the third-straight game they\u2019ve allowed multiple goals. On Kamara\u2019s goal, Andrew Farrell was far too slow tracking back, which allowed the Crew SC striker all the space he needed to plot his shot. Higuain\u2019s goal was the byproduct of poor marking from Xavier Kouassi, who let the playmaker slip into the box unimpeded on the scoring sequence. Yes, the offense didn\u2019t exactly do itself any favors by outshooting Crew SC 17-12 and getting nothing to show for it. But as it\u2019s been said by many Revolution players over the years: it all starts in the back, and on Saturday, it was the defense that ultimately let the guests down.<\/p>\n

Kamara stays home (part 2): <\/strong>After missing last week\u2019s match at Seattle with his wife due to give birth, Revolution striker Kei Kamara was forced to stay back in Boston on Saturday with their second child yet to arrive. With Kamara out, Daigo Kobayashi got his second start in a row as Diego Fagundez was pushed up as the secondary striker.<\/p>\n

Smith returns as CB rotation continues: <\/strong>Revolution coach Jay Heaps continued to tinker with his center back tandem as Josh Smith was given the start over Benjamin Angoua. Heaps has rotated between Smith and Angoua in each of the team\u2019s last five matches.<\/p>\n

Back to the Bay State:<\/strong> After playing their last two on the road, the Revolution return home for an inter-conference clash against Real Salt Lake. Kickoff is 7:30pm.
