Worcester Names Comrie Coach

Former Holy Cross head coach Elvis Comrie was named to the helm at Worcester Hydra on Tuesday (USLsoccer.com graphic).

Former Holy Cross men’s soccer coach Elvis Comrie was named head coach of W0rcester Hydra FC, the team announced on Tuesday.

Comrie, who coached the Crusaders from from 1991-2008, collected 125 wins during his tenure and was named Patriot League Coach of the Year four times (1995, 1999, 2001, 2007). He also led the program to an NCAA appearance in 2002.

“I got to know coach Comrie very well when I was an assistant coach at Holy Cross,” said Dmitri Strunkin, Hydra managing director in a statement. “His passion for the game is unmatched and contagious. His tactical knowledge and understanding of soccer is as deep as it is vast and his ability to recruit the best players will help our club field the best roster possible. I look forward to our first season with Elvis at the helm.”

The Hydra kick off their inaugural season on May 5 when they host the Seacoast United Phantoms at 7:00pm at Commerce Bank Field, located at Foley Stadium in Worcester.
