Following a solid preseason camp, fourth round Supplemental pick Gabe Latigue signed a deal with the New England Revolution on Friday.

Latigue, a midfielder out of Elon University (N.C.), was the 61st overall pick in last month’s Supplemental draft. He played in four preseason games, and assisted on a 57th minute A.J. Soares goal in a Feb. 20 contest against Real Salt Lake. He is the lone Supplemental selection to make the club.

“Gabe did well for himself during preseason training and earned his spot on our roster,” Revolution General Manager Michael Burns said in a statement. “He has shown he can fit in on either side of the midfield and has talent on set pieces. We’re looking forward to working with him further this season.”

Latigue’s skill on set pieces certainly bolstered his chances of making the squad. Last year, the Revolution struggled mightily on dead ball situations.

Despite that, it’s expected that the 22-year-old midfielder will be one of four players assigned to Rochester.

The addition of Latigue brings the Revolution roster to 29 players, with one international spot vacant. It is believed that the club will use that spot to sign a forward.
